The metric that actually moves
Most dashboards are a way to avoid deciding. Pick one number and a review.
Choose a number that sits close to a conversation: replies worth having, applications, trials that reach a second session. Views are a weather report. They are not the work.
Pair the number with a behavior you control this week — pages shipped, notes sent, offers rewritten. You review both, so a quiet week is diagnosable.
Write the review on Friday in half a page. What moved, what you will stop, what you will repeat. If the note is longer than that, you are still collecting.
Change the metric when the business changes, not when the metric makes you uncomfortable.
Keep going
The one-sentence offer
If a stranger cannot repeat what you do, the rest of the system has nothing to carry.
